Scholarships for Prospective Entrepreneurs

艾哈迈德·汉巴巴,雅各布·曹Thanks to the $600,000 four-year 硅谷 创新 and Entrepreneurship Scholarships Program (SVIES), graduate engineering students at 菠菜网lol正规平台 have new opportunities to learn about innovation, with direct support from 硅谷 entrepreneurs.

Founded by 艾哈迈德·汉巴巴和雅各布·曹 the program provides $10,000 annual scholarships to academically talented, financially needy graduate engineering students at 菠菜网lol正规平台. These scholarships come with significant educational and research comp一个nts that teach about thinking creatively, visualizing new products, and starting new companies. Drs. 曹 and Hambaba have already solicited participation and mentoring support from founders of both well-known and start-up 硅谷 businesses.

“Hearing innovators’ stories fi rst-hand sparks the imagination,” explains Dr. Hambaba. “Students learn what exactly happens in the mind of the innovator: what drives their creativity, what the context was for the innovator’s idea, and how they developed 这个想法变成了一个产品.”

Both professors hope for a broad expansion of the SVIES program over time.

“Eventually we would like to see an 创新 & Entrepreneurship certificate program in the College of 工程,” said Dr. 曹. “We hope to institutionalize innovation 上海外国语大学的教育.”
